Answer by m34tba11 It’s a MAC, based upon Unix. Virus‘ are not an issue.

I already know that Macs have a higher grade of security and virusprotection then other computers, but ever since I had a slight problem with my computer, I’ve been a little concerned and ocd about my computers safety and my data. I was just curious if it was okay as is or if it’s worth paying extra for some more software to protect my data. I’m frequently on the internet and rip images and videos from a variety of sources and I am currently running Snow Leopard.
Just to be clear, I’m not asking for suggestions on what software to get if I decide to purchase it; I just want to know how good the provided software is.

Answer by Vomit Purchase? Why purchase? There are free antivirus packages on both OS X and Windows that work just fine. OS X comes with some very rudimentary malware protection built in, although Apple has been paying closer attention since the Mac Defender malware cropped up.
